Dr. Arogundade inspects resettlement trading site being constructed for displaced Katangowa market traders…..
In fulfilment of his promise to ensure that trading continues unhindered at the demolished Katangowa market, the Executive Chairman of Agbado/Okeodo LCDA, Dr. Augustine Adeoye Arogundade, today inspects resettlement trading site being constructed for displaced Katangowa market traders in preparation for the construction of ultra modern ICT Park.
According to Dr. Arogundade, “I am extremely happy that the Executive Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu yielded to our plead on the need to accommodate displaced traders in the new developmental plan, and gave the developer of the ICT Park an executive order to incorporate the displaced traders at Katangowa market.”
“The result is what we all have witnessed here today, as the developer is working assiduously to construct a temporary trading site at affordable prices for traders to continue their trading pending the time the completion of the ICT Park.”
“I have held stakeholders’ meetings with leaders of the market traders to ensure they understand the development plan on ground and follow due process in procuring resettlement allocations in this temporary site.”
The CEO of Bridgeways Global Projects Limited, the developer handling the project, Arc. Jimmy Onyemenam, thanked the Executive Chairman of Agbado/Okeodo LCDA for his support in ensuring the displaced traders through their leaders get Incorporated into the plan of the State government in ensuring a befitting business environment.
In his words, “The ICT Park that is about to be constructed is the permanent home of present computer village. And it is designed to house shopping plazas in five different sizes, four banks, housing estate with 128 two bedroom flats, warehouses, security post and community market mall which comprises of lock-up shops and open stalls to accommodate original traders of Katangowa market.”
“Modern utilities and infrastructure will also be in place for conducive trading. That’s why the government have embarked on road expansion, BRT line and construction of bridges to ensure easy accessibility from different channel and corridor to the ICT Park.”
“The project will be completed in 2 years, while the temporary trading site will be ready within 4 to 6 weeks, he promised.”
